Is McDavid too strong for the league? Here are some suggestions for your pool...

A question that comes up a lot this year! Here are some suggestions to artificially lower McDavid's value in your pool...  
 
1. The easiest and suggested solution is to cap the number of points a pick can make in your pool. This setting is available in the pool's ADMIN under the GENERAL RULES / 'Max points allowed per pick' section. For example, if you put a maximum of 120 points per pick, then McDavid will be capped at 120 points. Note that all players in your pool will be affected by this setting, not just McDavid. So if another player made more than 120 points for example, they would be capped as well.  
 
2. If your pool is a 'draft' type pool, another option would be to give a negative bonus to the participant who picked McDavid. This setting is also in the ADMIN of the pool in the COMPETITORS section, under the BONUS column. You could enter -25 points for those who picked McDavid for example. This negative bonus would not be specifically allocated to McDavid, but to the participant who drafted him. This participant would then start the season with -25 points in the overall ranking of the pool. This strategy would also work on a box pool that does not have too many participants and where you can add the -25 point bonus to each participant that drafted McDavid for example. It takes a bit of manual work at the beginning of the pool.  
 
3. Finally, another option would be to create a special scoring rule for McDavid only. You could do this in the SCORING RULES section of the pool, still in the ADMIN module. You could use one of the last two custom rules and call it 'McDavid' for example and instead of giving him 1 point per goal and 1 point per assist, you could give him 0.75 points per goal and 0.75 points per assist for example. Then, when you enter McDavid in the lineup of the participant who chose him, make sure you go and change the McDavid scoring rule to the new rule you just created. Then, McDavid will be calculated in your pool at 75% of his value. This strategy would not work in a box pool because all players in the same box must share the same scoring rule.
